Help a Senior and the Environment: Mulch a yard!

Posted by on

Every year the DuPage Senior Citizen's Council invites the community to assist seniors in cleaning up their yard during Chore Days, during the first three weekends of November. Volunteers can help local seniors who are unable to rake leaves, plant flowers, trim bushes and bundle branches.

It's a great opportunity for groups to enjoy the crisp weather and help the overwhelming number of seniors needing help maintaining their yards in the community.

Communities served by this program include Bensenville, Darien, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glendale Heights, Lisle, Lombard, Villa Park, Warrenville, Westmont or Wood Dale.

To sign up or volunteer for Chore Days, call (630) 620-0804.

For more information, visit the DuPage Senior Citizens Council.

Sustainability Tip: Mulching leaves and spreading them on your yard and garden beds is the best way to not only protect perennials but also to fertilize every year.
